running the race

One of the things I've been reminded over the past few days has been something that Gordon Macdonald was talking about in an interview I was listening to.

The statement that he made was something to the effect of - "It doesn't matter how fast you are in the short distance race when the race is a marathon."

Just one of those statements that got me thinking about how I'm training and disciplining myself in all the areas of my life ... and how I'm preparing for the long haul.

How I need to be mindful of where I'm headed and how decisions I make today have an impact on the years down the road. It's not only about the here and now, but also looking forward to the better days yet to come and training and preparing for those days.
