bind

How important it is to get God's Word into our hearts!

My son, keep your father's commandment, and forsake not your mother's teaching. Bind them on your heart always;tie them around your neck. When you walk, they will lead you;when you lie down, they will watch over you;and when you awake, they will talk with you. Proverbs 6:20-22

The writer of Proverbs warns against adultery, and tells us to "bind" the Lord's teaching to our heart and put them around our neck. He advises his son to wrap them around the center of his being...his heart and his neck... for where the heart goes .... so goes the person ... and where the neck goes .... that's where the head is going to go...

In verse 22 we are told that if we bind ourselves to God's wisdom, they will watch over us, protect us, and even talk with us...it will have an effect on your whole life... SO TRUE!

While it's not important for us to bind/wear phylacteries on our heads and arms, what is most important for us is to bind/wear God's Word on our hearts ... not only will this be the best thing we can do, but it will satisfy the longing of our thirsty souls ... and it will surely show through in our lives.

Lord, help me to bind your Word to my heart and around my neck...may they be the very things that guide my life, but even more than that be what satisfies my thirsting soul. Lord, I want more of You. Not the appearance of, but the reality of a love relationship where I am bound to You.
